CASE 53 (July 2010)
Clinical information
A previously healthy 53-year-old woman
presented with a 3-day history of increasing abdominal pain. On physical
examination, acute abdomen was diagnosed. CT showed right retroperitoneal
hematoma, wich involved the upper renal pole and looked like a mass. She
presented acute anemia.
The patient underwent an exploratory
laparotomy and because of what was found a nephrectomy was performed (see
Figure 1).
